As we use a Japanese local address to receive items, customers generally only need to pay attention to the base product price. Some sellers may set items as “Cash on Delivery,” which could incur local delivery charges. Customers can use a Japan-based VPN to check product listings. If such fees apply, they will be charged; otherwise, no additional payment is needed.

(After placing an order) Can I cancel it?

As Mercari is a second-hand trading platform with a wide variety of product types and conditions, we cannot verify whether each item exactly matches the seller’s description. Therefore, cancellations, refunds, or return requests are not accepted once an order is placed through the platform.

What should I do if the received item has issues (e.g. counterfeit, wrong item, missing parts, etc.)?

Since Mercari is a second-hand marketplace with a wide variety of product conditions, we cannot guarantee that every item perfectly matches the seller’s description. As a general rule, second-hand orders do not qualify for refunds or returns. However, if you provide detailed information, we can try reporting the issue to Mercari and the seller. That said, the final judgment lies with Mercari, and we cannot guarantee that your case will be accepted or processed.

Why do some Mercari orders get processed quickly while others take longer?

Most Mercari proxy orders are processed automatically by our system. However, certain cases—such as products in restricted categories (e.g. food, cosmetics), sellers with ratings below 20, or listings that have been up for more than six months—require manual review. These will take longer to process compared to typical Mercari orders.
