III. What to buy on Black Friday: last year’s top 5 categories in Hong Kong

Based on Buy&Ship US warehouse shipments during last year’s Black Friday, Hong Kong members spent the most on electronics, followed by fashion, with beauty and sports gear also popular. PC parts were a top category only in Hong Kong. Below are the popular brands in each category, with hauls members shared in the Buy&Ship community.

1. Electronics: AirPods, iPad, Kindle

During last year’s Black Friday, the two items members spent the most on at Amazon were AirPods 4 and MacBook Air M4. iPad, Apple Watch, AirTag and Amazon’s own Kindle and Fire TV were also popular.

  • iPad Air 11-inch (M3)
A member replaced the family iPad during Amazon’s Black Friday sale.
  • Fire TV Stick 4K
Bought through proxy shopping with a promo code, turning an old TV into a smart TV.

⚠️ Most electronics have built-in batteries, so check the prohibited items list before you order. The Taiwan and Australia warehouses do not accept electrical products.

2. PC parts: graphics cards and PC build components

PC parts were a Black Friday top category only among Hong Kong members. Many bought graphics cards and PC build parts from Newegg, MSI’s US store and Amazon. These items are heavy, and Buy&Ship charges by actual weight, so estimate your shipping on the shipping rates page first.
⚠️ The US warehouse does not accept GPUs, CPUs or graphics cards that contain designated high-performance AI chips. Check the model against the prohibited items list before you order.

3. Fashion and handbags: Coach Outlet, Tory Burch, Tommy Hilfiger

  • Tommy Hilfiger US
A member bought four tops and jackets plus a pair of shoes in one go, about 7 lb in total. They found the sizes run slightly large, so check the size guide for each style.

4. Sports gear: lululemon, Hoka, ski gear

Black Friday isn’t just a US event. Canadian and Japanese sites run deals too.

IV. US store won’t ship to Hong Kong? Choose forwarding or proxy shopping

Many US stores only ship to US addresses, or only accept US-issued cards. Pick the option that fits your situation:

  • Store only ships to US addresses, or international shipping is too expensive
→ Use the Buy&Ship US warehouse as your delivery address and forward the parcel to Hong Kong
  • Ordering from several stores at different times
→ Once declared for shipping, parcels can be stored free for 30 days at our Hong Kong sorting centre, so you can wait for everything and ship together
  • Store won’t accept your Hong Kong card
→ Use proxy shopping: paste the product link, pay in HKD and Buy&Ship places the order
  • Store asks for a US phone number to receive a code
→ Use proxy shopping, so Buy&Ship places the order for you
  • Site redirects to its Hong Kong version, or won’t load
→ Open it in incognito mode and set your location to the US, or use a VPN (see Section VII)

Amazon US ships to Hong Kong, so why forward?

Some Amazon US items ship directly to Hong Kong, but direct shipping doesn’t suit everything:

  • High international shipping fees
Shipping some items directly to Hong Kong costs far more than shipping within the US.
  • Higher checkout total
The same item can cost much more at checkout with a Hong Kong delivery address than with a US one.
  • No international shipping
Some items, such as Apple products, ship to US addresses only.

Tip: switch the delivery location at the top of Amazon’s page between Hong Kong and the zip code of your Buy&Ship Amazon / eBay address (Member Centre > Overseas Warehouse Addresses > Portland US (Tax-Free) Warehouse > Amazon / eBay), and compare the checkout total and whether the item can ship. For items that can’t ship directly, send them to that address and forward them home. If you saved a Buy&Ship address in your Amazon account before November 2026, replace it with the current Amazon / eBay address. Before ordering, read our Amazon US delivery setup guide. For this year’s Amazon deals, see the Amazon Black Friday 2026 guide.

V. Don’t want to deal with overseas sites? 5 Black Friday problems Buy&Ship proxy shopping solves

Black Friday deals go fast, and the worst thing is getting stuck at payment or sign-up. Buy&Ship proxy shopping covers Japan, Korea, the US, the UK and Canada. Send us the product link and we handle the rest.

  1. Store won’t accept your Hong Kong card
Proxy shopping accepts local credit cards, so you don’t need to worry about an overseas store rejecting your card or about cross-border payments.
  2. Store needs a US phone number or local account
Some sites need a US mobile number to receive a code at sign-up or checkout. With proxy shopping, Buy&Ship places the order, so you don’t need an overseas number.
  3. Can’t read Japanese, Korean or other languages
Buy&Ship handles all communication with the overseas store.
  4. Worried about exchange rates and cross-border fees
Proxy orders are settled in HKD. Local prices are converted to HKD automatically, with no cross-border fee, and you see the full breakdown straight away.
  5. Separate parcels from several countries cost too much
Proxy parcels can be consolidated with your shipments from other countries to save on international shipping.

Proxy shopping service fees start from as low as 6%. See the proxy shopping page for details.

Step 1
Create a proxy order

Paste the overseas product link on the Buy&Ship website or app.

Step 2
Pay for your items

Pay in HKD with a local credit card.

Step 3
Ship to Hong Kong

Once your items reach the Buy&Ship overseas warehouse, they are forwarded to Hong Kong.

VI. How to prepare for Black Friday: 4 steps

Step 1: Get an overseas warehouse address

Start by signing up for Buy&Ship. Most overseas stores don’t ship internationally, and those that do often charge a lot. With a Buy&Ship overseas warehouse address, you can forward your purchases to Hong Kong at an affordable rate.

Tip: on Amazon sites in each country, enter a local zip code to see stock and local prices. When ordering from a US store, use your Buy&Ship US warehouse address as the delivery address. Amazon and eBay orders use a separate Amazon / eBay address under the same Portland US (Tax-Free) Warehouse in the Member Centre. Before ordering on Amazon US, read our Amazon US delivery setup guide.

Step 2: Make a shopping list

Whether you’re new to overseas shopping or not, browse your favourite sites in advance, create accounts, fill in your delivery address and add items to your bookmarks or wishlist. Black Friday stock is limited and goes fast, so being ready means you can check out as soon as the sale opens.

These channels will keep posting Black Friday deals:

Step 3: Compare prices

  • Start with the brand’s official stores in different countries. They usually have bigger discounts and more stock, and the products are genuine.
  • Look out for extra discounts on top of sale prices: department stores such as 24S and Nordstrom Rack for handbags, and beauty retailers such as Lookfantastic and Sephora for cosmetics.
  • To check an Amazon item’s price history, see our Keepa guide.

Step 4: Get more than one card ready

Most overseas stores accept cards issued by local banks, but a few don’t. Use a card that has worked on overseas sites before, and raise your spending limit in advance. If you’d rather skip all this, use Buy&Ship proxy shopping: pay with a local credit card and we place the order.

💡 Payment declined or order cancelled?

Option 1: try another credit card.
Option 2: use an American Express card.
Option 3: some sites only take PayPal, so set up a PayPal account in advance and switch to it if your card is declined.

If your payment is declined, don’t give up. Switching to a different payment method may work. If it still fails after a few tries, use Buy&Ship proxy shopping, pay with a local credit card and we place the order.

VII. More tips: prohibited items, blocked sites, scams and returns

1. Check prohibited items before you order

Check each product’s ingredients and category before you buy. Prohibited items differ by overseas warehouse, so the same item may be accepted at one warehouse and not another. See the full prohibited items list.

2. Check free shipping thresholds

Most stores offer free local shipping during Black Friday. Read the conditions before paying: some need a minimum spend and some need a promo code.

3. Browsing foreign-language and region-locked sites

  • If a site is in a language you don’t read, use the Google Translate extension for Chrome to translate the whole page.
  • Some US sites can only be browsed from a US network, and otherwise redirect to a Hong Kong version or won’t load.
Option 1: open the site in incognito or private browsing mode, then set the location to the United States.
Option 2: connect to a US VPN. Use a secure, paid VPN to protect your details when paying. See our recommended VPNs for overseas shopping.

4. Watch out for fake Black Friday sites

  • A site whose address is one or two letters off the official one, with prices far below market, is likely fake.
  • Go through the brand’s official site or app. Don’t pay through links in unknown ads, text messages or emails.
  • Before paying, check the address starts with https, and use a protected payment method such as a credit card or PayPal.

5. Check sizes, warranty and return policies before you order

  • Overseas sizes may differ from Hong Kong sizes. Check the size chart before ordering, or try the item on in a local store first.
  • Electronics warranties may only cover the country of purchase, so check the brand’s warranty terms first.
  • Returns to overseas stores usually have to be sent back to that country, so read the store’s return policy before you order.

VIII. Why ship your Black Friday haul with Buy&Ship? 5 reasons

  1. Warehouses in major shopping countries, consolidated into one shipment
Buy&Ship has overseas warehouses in the US, UK, Japan, Korea, Canada, Italy, Australia, Taiwan and more, covering the main Black Friday shopping destinations. Order from different stores, then consolidate your parcels into one shipment to Hong Kong instead of paying separate international shipping on each.
  2. Charged by actual weight, so big boxes are no problem
Shoe boxes and jackets come in bulky packaging, which costs more with forwarders that charge by volumetric weight. As long as your parcel meets the shipping limits, Buy&Ship charges by actual weight, so you can estimate the cost before checkout. See shipping rates for each warehouse and pickup option.
  3. 30 days’ free storage at our Hong Kong sorting centre
During Black Friday you’ll probably order from different stores at different times. Parcels can be stored free for 30 days once they reach the Hong Kong sorting centre, giving you time to wait for parcels from other warehouses and ship them together. Overseas warehouses don’t offer storage, so declare your parcels within 30 days of arrival.
  4. A US warehouse in a tax-free state
Most US states charge sales tax, usually around 6% to 10% including local taxes. The Buy&Ship US warehouse is in a tax-free state, so orders sent there usually avoid this sales tax.
  5. Free basic protection, with extra cover for valuable items
Every Buy&Ship parcel comes with free basic protection. For valuable items, you can add Buy&Ship Plus to raise the limit for loss and damage.

Q: How do I buy from a US store that doesn’t ship to Hong Kong?

It suits stores that won’t take Hong Kong cards, need a US phone number, or are in a language you don’t read.
