After Beyblade X, the newest craze among Hong Kong toy collectors is Gyakuten Bariba Reverse, known locally as 逆轉金幣. Bandai launched it in Japan in March 2026. The stars are double-sided “Bariba Coins”: you flick your coin with a finger at your opponent’s, and if you knock theirs over so it flips, you win. Any flat table will do; no special arena is needed. The coins are sold in blind packs at a suggested retail price of only ¥396 (about HK$20) each in Japan. Rare coins are another story: HK01 reported Vol. 1 RR coins listed on Carousell for as much as HK$1,200. Hong Kong shops mainly sell the blind packs, while the battle field and binder with exclusive coins, and the 3-coin sets with a guaranteed BBR, come out in Japan first and in more designs. Sold-out items like the manga special edition and single rare coins turn up on Mercari, the Japanese second-hand marketplace. The story centres on creatures called バリビィ (Baribi), and every character has two forms: the front “Order Side” and the back “Xtreme Side”, marked “O” and “X” after the name. Besides the toys, there is a manga running in Monthly CoroCoro Comic and an official YouTube anime. Vol. 1 went on sale in Japan on 21 March 2026, and Vol. 4 was out by October.

To play, you hit your opponent’s coin with your own. There are three levels of battle rules:

• • Beginner rule: one coin each. Knock your opponent’s coin over so it flips, and you win.

• • Standard rule: adds the “OX value”, the number printed on each coin. If the coin that was hit does not flip, compare the two coins’ OX values. If the attacker’s value is higher, the other coin is knocked out. Knock out all of your opponent’s coins to win.

• • Expert rule: each player uses three coins, and their combined OX value cannot exceed 15,000, so team-building matters.

What to check before buying Bariba Reverse

Compare prices before you buy

On 27 October 2026, third-party sellers on Amazon JP were asking from ¥16,000 for a Vol. 4 box, more than 30% above the ¥11,880 suggested price, and ¥6,770 for the 2WAY field, nearly 40% above its ¥4,950 suggested price. The same item can vary widely in price between stores and on Mercari, so compare before ordering.

Blind packs are random; choose sets for specific characters

Each pack contains one random coin. Bandai does not guarantee that a box of 30 packs completes the set, and rare coins such as RR appear less often. If you want a particular character, the coins in the 3-coin sets, the binder and the battle field are fixed, which is the safer choice.

Check Japanese release dates for pre-orders

The 2WAY field goes on sale in Japan on 14 November, and stores ship only after release. Pre-orders have closed at Kojima.net, Yodobashi and amiami; when you submit a proxy order, the availability confirmed on the order page applies. The ラッティー and ニャルバン plush toys (バリバぬい) also go on sale on 21 November, at ¥2,240 for pre-order from amiami; submit them as a separate proxy order and combine them with your other items at the warehouse.

A: Hong Kong shops mainly sell the blind packs, at prices similar to Japan, so buying packs locally is fine. The binder and battle field with exclusive coins, the 3-coin sets with a guaranteed BBR and the manga special edition with gold BKR coins are hard to find in Hong Kong, and those are worth buying from Japan.

Why are Amazon JP prices higher than ¥396?

A: Bariba Reverse is out of stock at many Japanese stores, and most items on Amazon JP are sold by third-party sellers who set their own prices. How many waves are there, and are the names consistent?
